Shizuoka tea birthplace of Ashikubo
"Get Touched By The Very Local Hospitality Of Ashikubo Shizuoka, Japan"
Ashikubo is a quiet local place located 30 minutes by car away from JR Shizuoka Station.
In the medieval Kamakura period, Syouicihi Kokushi, a distinguished priest born in Sunshu ( Olden Shizuoka's Name ), went to Soh, China for studies.
And Syouichi Kokushi spread over Shizuoka the tea seeds he had back from China, which is said to be the very beginning of Shizuoka Tea.
Of all Shizuoka Tea brands, Ashikubo Tea is a brand that can be traced back to its history as a tribute delivered to Edo Jo ( Edo Castle ) in The Edo Period.
The youth of Ashikubo Tea Works is in the efforts of telling more and more people how to enjoy tea while maintaining the traditional Ashikubo Green Tea and its history.
They would like more people to enjoy tea in a more friendly manner in their daily life.
For that though, they have decided to renew their products' packages and put efforts in developing new products such as "Tea Snacks" and "Tea Late" and so on.
More importantly, though, they made their mind on going so far as to renovate their old store, "Yamacha-kan" in Ashikubo with a new cafeteria space.
In the new cafeteria, you can have true Shizuoka-Japan experiences.
Come to visit the quiet, local Ashikubo, feel the very origin of Tea that comes from "Communication & Japanese Hospitality".
